The Sunset Organic Farm Tour
Your evening starts with a free pickup from central Ubud at 4:00 PM. We drive you out of the busy town to the quiet highlands of Taro. We welcome you to the Taman Dukuh Organic Farm with Balinese coffee or herbal tea and local snacks. During the “Golden Hour” before sunset, you take a bamboo basket and walk through our organic gardens. Your guide shows you how to pull fresh long beans, chilies, and aromatic ginger right from the dirt to use for your dinner.
Make Traditional Base Gede
As it gets dark, we turn on the warm lights in our open-air kitchen. You share a cooking station with one other person. You start by grinding spices for your Base Gede (traditional spice paste) using a stone mortar. Our English-speaking chefs guide you step-by-step as you chop, stir, and grill your way through a complete six-course menu.
This experience is part of our comprehensive Balinese Cooking Classes in Ubud, designed to teach you the authentic spice philosophy of Gianyar.
Cook and Eat Under the Stars
We do not make you wait until late at night to eat. We use a “cook-eat-cook-eat” schedule. You cook your appetizers and sit down to enjoy them hot. Then, you return to the kitchen to cook your main courses. You finish the class sitting at a communal dinner table with your group, eating the meal you created. After dinner, our shuttle drives you safely back to Ubud.
