Excursion Highlights for Educators

Full description

Agriculture & Cultural Education

This is not just a cooking class; it is an interactive lesson in Balinese culture and sustainability. The excursion begins with a guided walk through our family-owned organic farm in Taro Village.

Students leave their phones behind and get their hands in the dirt. Our local guides teach them how the UNESCO-recognized Balinese Subak water management system functions, the importance of chemical-free farming, and how to harvest tropical roots and vegetables directly from the soil.

Safe, Hands-On Cooking

After harvesting their ingredients, students move into our spacious, open-air kitchen. We divide large groups into smaller, manageable cooking stations.

Our English-speaking chefs and dedicated kitchen assistants closely supervise the students as they learn traditional culinary techniques. To ensure maximum safety, we focus on safe, tactile tasks like grinding spices in traditional stone mortars, folding spring rolls, and molding satay onto lemongrass stalks.

University & Hospitality Masterclasses

For older students (like our IPBI and SPB partners), we can upgrade the curriculum to include advanced Balinese techniques, such as preparing complex Base Gede spice pastes, traditional slow-cooked meats, and understanding commercial kitchen hygiene standards.

FAQs: School Group Cooking Excursions

We can comfortably and safely host large cohorts of up to 90+ participants (including teachers and chaperones) at one time in our open-air facility. We divide large schools into smaller, manageable teams sharing dedicated cooking stations. This ensures a high staff-to-student ratio so every student gets hands-on experience rather than just watching a demonstration.

Yes. We maintain a high staff-to-student ratio. Our trained kitchen assistants constantly monitor the cooking stations, especially when students are near hot woks or using traditional tools. We have safely hosted educational groups from primary school (SD) up to university hospitality programs.

Yes. Our organic farm in Taro Village is located 15 minutes north of the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. To safely navigate the local village roads, we advise schools to use 30-seater to 35-seater charter buses. The bus can park safely on the main road near our farm, and students will have a short, safe 200-meter walk directly to our facility.

We completely customize the learning outcomes based on your students’ grade level and your specific curriculum requirements. During the booking process, we will discuss your exact educational goals to tailor the excursion.

  • For Primary & Middle Schools: We focus on food origins, basic hygiene, and safe, tactile tasks like grinding spices in a traditional stone mortar.
  • For University & Hospitality Programs: We teach advanced kitchen techniques, safe knife handling, commercial hygiene standards, and the cultural context behind complex Balinese flavor balancing.

Regardless of the curriculum level, every student receives a printed recipe book to take home and practice their new skills.

We emphasize teamwork and collaboration. Large school groups are divided into smaller teams sharing dedicated cooking stations. Students must communicate and delegate tasks—like ingredient preparation, mixing, and cooking—to complete their multi-course Balinese meal together.
