Permaculture & Natural Composting
Located in Taro Village, Taman Dukuh operates a 1.5-hectare working farm dedicated to chemical-free cultivation. Our local farming guides lead you through the property, demonstrating how we maintain soil fertility through traditional Balinese composting. You will learn to identify different stages of organic decomposition and how we feed our soil without synthetic fertilizers.
The Sacred Subak System
Farming in Taro is guided by Tri Hita Karana—the ancient philosophy of maintaining harmony between people, nature, and the divine. During your tour, we explain how this spiritual contract dictates our farming cycles and our connection to the local village ecosystem. You will see how traditional Balinese life is inseparable from the land.
Seasonal Harvesting & Tasting
Participants are encouraged to participate in the farm’s daily maintenance. Depending on the season, you will use traditional tools to harvest fresh kale, mustard greens, ginger, turmeric, and cacao. The experience concludes in our open-air pavilion where you will taste raw produce and enjoy a traditional “Field-to-Fork” meal made from the very ingredients you just harvested.

We offer two daily schedules. The morning session is perfect for early risers, while the afternoon session is ideal for pairing with our Evening Firefly Tour.
