Overview of Our Classes
We offer relaxed half-day and full-day farm cooking classes that suit both beginners and confident home cooks. Every experience is hands-on, grounded in Balinese spice traditions, and set in a peaceful rural setting just outside Ubud.
You can explore all of our Balinese cooking classes in Ubud and choose the time and menu that fit your trip.

Pick-Up and Welcome
Your day starts with a warm Balinese greeting and an easy pick-up from Ubud. Our driver meets you at a designated meeting point, then you travel together to the farm in a comfortable vehicle. On the way, you meet your small group, chat about your travels, and watch the city fade into rice fields and village life on the road to Taman Dukuh.

Visit a Local Market (for morning class only)
Before reaching the farm, we visit a local market outside central Ubud where Balinese families shop every day. Your instructor shows you different types of rice, fresh coconut, and key ingredients used in Balinese spice pastes and sauces. You can take photos, try local snacks, and observe daily life. It is your first taste of authentic Bali, far from the typical tourist stops.

Arrival at Our Organic Farm
After the market, we arrive at Taman Dukuh, our working organic farm near Ubud. The kitchen sits among fruit trees and green gardens where we grow many of the herbs and vegetables you will cook with. We walk through the farm, explain how we plant and harvest, and show you how “farm-to-table” works in Bali. Many guests say this is a highlight of their trip.

Cooking Your Own Balinese Meal
In our open-air kitchen, each guest has a personal cooking station and tools. Guided by Chef Nyoman Deren and our local team, you grind fresh bumbu spice pastes, prepare dishes from our Balinese menu, and learn simple techniques you can repeat at home. The class is fully hands-on, easy to follow, and suitable for beginners and confident home cooks alike.

Enjoy Everything You Cook
During the class, we follow a relaxed “cooking – eating – cooking – eating” rhythm. The session is usually split into 2 or 3 rounds. This way you always enjoy the food while it is hot and fresh from the wok. Many guests say this is the best meal of their Bali trip and that they feel confident to cook these dishes at home.

Enjoy Time on the Farm
Our goal is to give you a day outside the busy tourist areas, where you can see and feel a different side of Bali. For a deeper cultural stay, you can also look at our Bali Cook & Stay program, where you live on the farm, cook, and unwind in the same peaceful setting.

Beyond Cooking: More Bali Cultural Experiences
Many travelers pair their cooking class with another activity in Ubud to create a full day of culture.
At Taman Dukuh, we also offer Bali cultural experiences, such as:
- Evening firefly watching in the rice fields
- Visits to local night markets near Ubud
- Village walks and countryside tours
These experiences match our cooking classes perfectly if you want to see both the flavors and the daily life of Bali in one trip.
