Why Choose a Farm-to-Table Vegan Class?

Unlike typical city-center classes, Taman Dukuh is located in the ancient village of Taro. Our vegan classes are unique because:

  • We don’t just cook; we harvest.
You’ll walk through our organic farm to pick the galangal, turmeric, and lemongrass used in your meal.
  • Naturally Vegan.
Balinese cuisine has been “plant-forward” for centuries. We use traditional techniques to make vegetables the star of the show.
  • Sustainable & Ethical.
By booking with us, you support a local family farm and sustainable agriculture in rural Bali.

Why Our Vegan Class is Different
The Sacred Soil of Taro

Most vegan classes in Ubud center are ‘modern.’ Ours is ancient. Located in the sacred village of Taro—the birthplace of Balinese agriculture—our farm grows ingredients in the same soil blessed by the priest Rsi Markandya centuries ago.

We practice Tri Hita Karana (harmony with nature), meaning our vegan dishes aren’t just about avoiding animal products; they are about eating in balance with the earth. Here, you’ll find no processed “fake meats”—just the power of organic jackfruit, tempeh, and heritage spices.

A Taste of Your Vegan Balinese Feast

You’ll create a full menu from scratch, including the foundational spice paste, appetizers, mains, and a delicious dessert.

FAQ: our Vegan Class

Yes. While some modern dishes use meat, the foundation of our village diet has always been “plant-forward.” Staples like tempeh, tofu, and coconut milk are at the heart of our culture. At Taman Dukuh, we ensure all traditional sauces are made 100% vegan without fish or shrimp paste.

We believe in the power of whole, organic foods. Instead of processed “mock meats,” we use fresh Young Jackfruit, artisan Tempeh, and farm-grown vegetables to create rich textures and bold flavors.

Absolutely! Most of our vegan recipes are naturally gluten-free as we use rice flour and fresh roots. Please just let us know your requirements when booking.
