The Organic Farm & Harvesting
We pick you up from central Ubud using our free shuttle. If you book the Morning class, we take you through the Tegallalang traditional market.
For all classes, we bring you to our family-owned Taman Dukuh Organic Farm in Taro Village. You take a bamboo basket and harvest the exact organic vegetables, roots, and spices you will use to cook your meal directly from the soil.
Making Vegan Base Gede (No Shrimp Paste!)
The biggest fear for vegans in Bali is hidden Terasi (fermented shrimp paste). Most traditional Balinese food relies on it. We teach you how to make Base Gede (traditional spice paste) completely plant-based. You share a cooking station with one other person.
Our English-speaking chefs teach you how to use a traditional stone mortar to grind fresh galangal, turmeric, and lemongrass, creating the exact same authentic Balinese flavor profile without any animal products.

Plant-Based Menu
Your 6-Course Plant-Based Menu
We do not use processed “fake meats.” We use whole, organic ingredients grown on our farm. We use a staggered cooking schedule, meaning you sit down to eat your appetizers before returning to cook the main courses.
- The Appetizers: Vegan Gado-Gado (fresh vegetable salad with homemade peanut sauce) or Sayur Urab (mixed veggies with Sambal Mbe), plus Sweet & Sour Artisan Tempeh.
- The Spice Paste: Vegan Bumbu Bali (foundational spice paste made from scratch).
- The Main Courses: Balinese Vegan Curry (carrots and chayote simmered in coconut milk), Vegan Sate Lilit (minced young jackfruit or potato on lemongrass skewers), and Bergedel Jagung (crispy Balinese corn fritters).
- The Dessert: Dadar Gulung (sweet pandan crepes filled with coconut and palm sugar) or Pisang Goreng (fried bananas).
