About Us
About Taman Dukuh Bali Farm Cooking School
The Bali Farm Cooking School was started in 2013 by a group of locals who wanted to encourage organic and sustainable farming in their area.
As small-scale farmers, we knew how to grow quality organic crops, but it was difficult to sell them on the local market as people were more concerned with appearances than quality.
Also, it was hard for us to sell their crops to big hotels and restaurants because they had to keep getting more every day.
The group decided to create their own market and built a space for local farmers to share their knowledge and expertise in organic and sustainable farming.
They also wanted to offer a space for young villagers who were interested in learning about tourism and farming.
And so, Bali Farm Cooking School was born! Visitors could come and learn about Balinese and Indonesian cuisine, experience organic farming, and gain a deeper appreciation of Balinese culture and tradition in a fun and friendly environment.
The expert local chefs were passionate about sharing their knowledge, and the ingredients were sourced directly from the organic farm and local farmers.
Through the years, the school has grown and expanded its offerings, while remaining committed to sustainability, community, and respect for nature.
The school is proud to be a part of a community that values organic and sustainable farming and is dedicated to sharing the beauty and magic of Bali with visitors from all over the world.
WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT THAN OTHER COOKING SCHOOLS IN BALI?
We know that there are many cooking schools in Bali, but here at Bali Farm Cooking School, we pride ourselves on being unique!
We believe that we offer something special that you won’t find anywhere else on the island.
We are the only Balinese cooking school that has its own farm. When you visit us, you will see firsthand how fruits, vegetables, and herbs grow, and you will have the opportunity to pick the ingredients fresh from the farm.
We grow our produce organically, which means that you will be cooking with the freshest and healthiest ingredients around.
When you come to our farm, you’ll be able to get away from the busy city and spend time in a peaceful and natural setting.
You’ll have the chance to see local villagers going about their daily activities and experience the beauty of Balinese countryside life.
At our cooking school, we don’t just teach you how to cook Balinese food—we encourage you to participate in the cooking process!
We work as a team here, just like the local tradition in Bali. Our kitchen is built out of bamboo and local wood, and our staff cleans it every day to maintain hygienic standards.
We have a passionate team of local instructors who are experts in tourism and organic farming. Our teachers, Wayan, Deren, Beego, Yogi, and Kadek, will show you the right way to cook Balinese food.
After years of experience teaching Balinese cooking classes in Ubud, Wayan and his team have found substitutes for some Balinese ingredients, and they are always happy to share helpful ideas during class.
We welcome travelers who are passionate about cooking, local food, local culture, and village life.
So, come and join us for a fun and educational culinary adventure that you won’t soon forget!

It also emphasizes the need to show respect and offer offerings to deities to achieve harmony with God.
Finally, it promotes the sustainability and balance of the environment, and the need to conserve nature.
We take this philosophy seriously and strive to promote it in everything we do, from our sustainable farming practices to our commitment to using organic and locally sourced ingredients.
Our aim is to not only share our Balinese cuisine recipes with visitors, but also to promote a deeper understanding of Balinese culture, spirituality, and philosophy.

OUR TRADITIONAL RECIPES
At Bali Farm Cooking School, we’re all about sharing the secrets of Balinese cuisine with our guests.
What sets Balinese food apart?
It’s all in the spice paste! We’ll teach you how to make the “Bumbu Bali” Balinese spice paste that’s the base for most of our dishes.
Using fragrant seeds like white and black pepper, coriander, cumin, clove, nutmeg, sesame seeds, and candlenut, along with fragrant roots like shallots, garlic, galangal, turmeric, and ginger, we create a mouth-watering blend that will have your taste buds dancing.
We’ll show you how to make this spice paste step by step, and we’ll also teach you how to combine it with other ingredients to create delicious Balinese dishes.
And the best part?
You’ll get to take our traditional recipe book home with you, so you can recreate all your favorite Balinese meals in your own kitchen.
We take pride in using locally sourced, organic ingredients to create our dishes. Our team works with local farmers to source the freshest and healthiest ingredients, and we’re constantly experimenting with new ways to showcase the unique flavors of Balinese cuisine.
At Bali Farm Cooking School, we believe that cooking is about more than just making food. It’s a way to connect with the culture and traditions of a place and learn about the people and their way of life.
